Yumara López, a 20 year old Business Administration student, has been crowned the title Miss World Nicaragua 2014 after the original winner, María Esther Cortés, resigned from her title due to personal reasons. Yumara López was the first runner-up to María Esther Cortés in the said pageant. She will take over the task of representing Nicaragua at Miss World 2014, scheduled for December 14 at London, England.

Since 1960 traditionally the winner or runner-up of Miss Nicaragua represents her country at Miss World. On occasion, when the winner does not qualify (due to age) for either contest, a contestant is sent. In 2011 Nicaraguan representatives at Miss World will be selecting by Miss World Nicaragua pageant. The winner of the pageant represents her country at Miss World. Nicaragua has finished as 6th runner up in 1968 and 3rd runner-up in 2001 at Miss World but it is yet to win a crown.
