The Ecuadorian model, Olga Alava is a native of Guayaquil and an enthusiast about Asian culture who studied in China for a year and speaks Mandarin. Furthermore, Olga Alava who stands 1.73 m (5 ft 8 in) tall presented an ecological project for protecting Ecuador’s mangroves and has also become a spokeswoman for the protection of the Yasuni biosphere reserve in her country. During the event, newly crowned Miss Earth 2011 answered a question from the jury by saying that “education is the best solution for the environment because children are those who have to preserve the Earth for future generations.”

Olga Alava from Ecuador was crowned Miss Earth 2011 on December 3rd 2011 at the finale of the pageant held in the Philippines. With the tittle, Olga Alava helped Ecuador bag the 2nd crown for the year 2011. Driely Bennettone of Brazil, Caroline Medina of Venezuela and Athena Imperial of the Philippines were the runners-up.
