19-year-old Stephanie del Valle from Puerto Rico was crowned Miss World 2017 at the conclusion of the pageant held on December 18th, 2016 at MGM National Harbour in Washington D.C., USA. She was the second ever Miss World from Puerto Rico, after Wilnelia Merced won the title in 1975.

For the final question that the Top 5 candidates had to answer, Stephanie was asked, “If you had an opportunity to change something about the world, what would it be?”
She answered: “If I had an opportunity to change something about the world, I think what I would do is send the message of how important it is to change exclusion for acceptance, to promote and provide justice for others, and the importance of helping those in need.”
The first runner-up was Miss Dominican Republic, Yaritza Reyes;
The second runner-up was Miss Indonesia, Natasha Mannuela.
Miss Kenya, Evelyn Njambi, and Miss Philippines, Catriona Gray, completed the top 5.
The top 10 were completed by the delegates from Belgium, Brazil, the United States, the People’s Republic of China and Korea. Miss Mongolia was named the People’s Choice and made it a top 11.
