Kira Kazantsev, the reigning Miss New York, was crowned Miss America 2015 at the conclusion of the national pageant held on September 14th, 2014 at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall. This is the third consecutive victory for New York in the Miss America pageant, incredible!!!

Kazantsey, 23, grew up in California but then moved to New York. She can speak three languages and is an aspiring lawyer. Kazantsey is a graduate of Hofstra University and was recently accepted to Fordham University’s law school.
During the interview portion of the event, Kazantsey was asked what issue she would want female U.S. Senators to advocate for, to which she answered sexual assault in the military.
During the talent competition, Kazantsey performed a cover of Pharrell’s hit song “Happy” and managed to incorporate a bit of Anna Kendrick’s “Cups” routine from the film Pitch Perfect.

During her year as Miss America she will serve as spokesperson for education as she travels to Washington, D.C., to work with the Department of Education. Along with the coveted title of Miss America 2015, Kira won a $50,000 scholarship provided in part by Joseph Ribkoff Inc. and the Miss America Organization to continue her education.
The first runner-up was Miss Virginia Courtney Paige Garrett;
The second runner-up was Miss Arkansas Ashton Jo Campbell;
The third runner-up was Miss Florida Victoria Cowen;
The fourth runner-up was Miss Massachusetts Lauren Kuhn.
Miss North Dakota, Jacky Arness was voted by her fellow contestants as Miss Congeniality.
