Laura Kaeppeler, Miss America 2012, visited Underwood-Memorial Hospital on on Tuesday. She received a warm reception from the patients and hospital staff. Camera phones and curious eyes were rampant — something the 23-year-old Miss Wisconsin winner said she’s still trying to get used to.

Amanda Mertz was crowned Miss Kentucky Teen USA 2012 on January 23, 2012 at Western Kentucky University at Bowling Green. She will represent Kentucky in the upcoming Miss USA 2012 Pageant.

Miss USA 2012, the 61st edition of the Miss USA pageant, will be held in July of 2012 in a venue to be decided later. Miss USA 2011 Alyssa Campanella will crown her successor at the end of this event. The winner will represent the United States in Miss Universe 2012. The 50 states and the District of Columbia will compete for the prestigious title and the pageant will broadcast live on NBC.

Miss America 2012, the 91st edition of Miss America pageant, will be held at the Theatre for the Performing Arts in Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas in January 14, 2012. It will be broadcast live on ABC. Miss America 2011, Teresa Scanlan from Nebraska, will crown her successor at the end of this event. All 50 states plus the District of Columbia, Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico will compete for the prestigious title. Please be noted that Miss America pageant is different from the Miss USA Pageant. The winner of Miss USA Pageant represent the United States in Miss Universe Pageant while the winner of Miss America does not compete in International beauty pageant. It is, hence, considered a scholarship competition rather than a beauty pageant.

Miss World 2011, the 61st edition of the Miss World pageant, will be held at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London on November 6, 2011. Alexandria Mills of the United States will crown her successor at the end of the event. 110 beauties from around the global are expected to compete for the crown. Belarus, French Polynesia, Macau, St. Lucia, Uruguay are confirmed withdrawals from the pageants. The debuts of this year are Kyrgyzstan, Saint Barthelemy. Miss World 2011 also witnesses the return of Austria, Bermuda, Bonaire, Chile, Dominican Republic, Guam, Liberia, Slovenia.

Miss Wisconsin Laura Kaeppeler was crowned Miss America 2012 in Las Vegas on Jan. 14, and promises to bring attention to her own interesting platform of aiding children of incarcerated parents, as well as being the ambassador for the organization’s national platform, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
